Where are We now?

Nine meetings have been organized so far in order to coordinate the activities of the partners and bring forward ERNEST activities as a collective work.

The steps towards improved cooperation, comprise the following ERNEST activities:  social dialogue with the regional stakeholders, mapping of the regional research programmes related to the issues of sustainability and competitiveness of tourism, with a specific focus on those which are currently active or will be activated in the future.

The results, in the form of two different reports (Survey 1 - Mapping of the regional structures and of the research programmes related to sustainable tourism and Survey 2 - Interregional comparison) have been published in the Documents/Ernest docs section of the homepage.

Activities are underway also as far as regards communication: the ERNEST project brochure and various ERNEST newsletterhave been published... In autumn 2009 three new parters have joined the consortium, Wales (UK), Veneto Region (I) and the Agency for the Development of Kosice. In 2010 ERNEST activities included the launching of the common action plan and the launch of the first joint call for interregional research into sustainable tourism. As a result, 7 projects have been funded - they are now in the monitoring phase. An ambitious  common activities plan has been carried out, with activities ranging from knowledge exchange to common participatory metods, to the joint call activities. An extensive collection of sustainable tourism good practices and research programmes has been collected.

The project activities and results, including the good practices and the sub-projects financed, will be shown at the PROJECT's FINAL CONFERENCE in Florence, Italy, on June 27th 2012
